Brokeback
Mountain Ski Area (BMSA) and Clear Lake Ice Skating Club have joined
forces to provide recreational programs for visitors and local amateur
athletes.
The
new venture aptly renamed Ice Skate Coral takes advantage of the
close proximity between BMSA and Queer Lake.
Only
a seven minute bus drive the Ice Skate Coral offers public skating
sessions as well as recreational hockey games and figure skating
classes.
New
for 2008 are monthly curling tournaments and classes taught by Nick
Kitinski of Hollywood
Curling Club from California.
"The
Ice Skate Coral is a welcome addition which brings a lot of value
to our resort. We envisioned the [Ice Skate] Coral primarily as
a place for an evening after ski activity but guys keep coming out
at all weird hours around the clock. That's great," says William
E. Langdon the head of BMSA Athletic Partnership Program.
The
inherited infrastructure is scheduled for a major facelift next
summer when the new Rudy Galindo Center opens doors.
Named
after the groundbreaking figure skater, the Rudy Galindo Center
will house all modern amenities including a locker room, a skate
rental shop and a concession stand.
