Brokeback
Mountain is an old charm ski resort with a flare of the American west.
The ski area has been the local's favorite since 1963 when Howard
Dunn installed a rope tow in place of today's Dude Ranch Lodge.
The following year he started charging weekend skiers 2 cents a
ride and a ski resort was born.
The
first of the four building comprising the Rodeo Lodge was erected
in 1965. While the pre 1965 mountain was a guy-only rough and tumble
place, the addition of a simple mountain lodge allowed families
to stay overnight in a warm and dry place.
Soon
thereafter Howard partnered with his long time fishing buddy Jack
Clark to clear several ski trails and install two more rope tows.
By
1975 the resort took on today's shape - a modern ski area with all
the amenities, cutting edge ski school and diverse staff serving
ever more diverse guests.
